Biography

Sensei Craig Penman has 28 yrs experience in the art of Karate since embarking on his Martial Arts journey. During this time Craig has accomplished great success in both traditional and competition Karate.

Over the years since beginning his journey Craig has trained with some of the most prominent Martial artists of our times; Tommy Morris, Vic Charles, Pat McKay, Terry Pottage, Davie Coulter, Donald Fullarton, Iain Abernethy, Moncef Abdelwahed, Dave Hazzard, Geoff Thompson, Anthony Sommers, Master Yasanari Ishimi to name but a few, and lastly (the most influential and inspirational man in my life thus far) his life long Instructor Alex Howe.

In the competing side of Karate Craig has won numerous domestic and international competitions - Scottish & British Champion, and has also been a frequent member of the Scottish Karate Team.

In order to broaden and enhance his experience Craig has started to look at different areas of the martial arts, specifically the traditional areas of Kata application and also other styles to help broaden his own knowledge and produce more well rounded martial arts students.

Most recently he and Co. Instructor Vincent McGuire have spent the last six months training with Karate and Self Protection Guru Geoff Thompson completing his “Master Class” and obtaining the coveted title of Self Defence Instructor in the Geoff Thompson self protection system.

Craig’s clubs and his whole outlook in karate vary depending on age, but the ultimate goal in his teaching is to produce a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. I’m sure no explanation needed.
